Identification

The Corteza Amarilla is easy to recognize by its spectacular golden-yellow trumpet-shaped flowers, which appear after the tree has shed all of its leaves during the dry season. Its rough gray bark, rounded crown, and palm-shaped leaves make it one of the most recognizable native trees of Guanacaste.

During peak flowering, the tree becomes almost entirely covered with yellow blossoms, creating one of the most colorful landscapes in Costa Rica's tropical dry forest.
